J. Hoard

Saturday, August 17, 2019, 8:00 PM

Last year, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter J. Hoard won a Grammy for his contribution to Chance the Rapper’s “No Problem.” Hoard’s own music is similarly uplifting and gospel-inspired, anchored by his triumphant vocals.
NYC based artist, J. Hoard, is a new stitch to the essential fabric of New York City—its music scene. In one performance you are given the core of the Black church and allure of The Great White Way. His original compositions easily shift in genre to communicate his unlimited imagination in songwriting. His credits include Chance the Rapper, Brasstracks, and hip-hop royalty Jean Grae & Quelle Chris and a host of jazz/experimental artists such as Sonnymoon, Javier Santiago, and Meshell Ndgeocello. He creates at least 8 different stories through hooks at Arlene’s Grocery for the now 6-year running hip hop jam, and you can be transcended to the times of Hendrix and Aretha—just with the addition of 808s and vocal loop pedals.
