POSTPONED ~ OUTSIDE MULLINGAR by John Patrick Shanley

Friday, August 14, 2020, 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Tony Award nominee for Best Play. Written by John Patrick Shanley, the man who brought us Doubt and the script for the film Moonstruck. Outside Mullingar is directed by Dan Burson and will feature Maureen Butler, Jan Gardner, Joe Bearor and Tony Reilly in the role of Tony Reilly (really, thats the characters name). Its a romantic comedy set in rural Ireland. Anthony and Rosemary are lovelorn farmers who havent got a clue when it comes to love. These hopeless singletons will need to overcome a bitter land feud, familial rivalries and their own romantic fears to find happiness. Full of dark humor and poetic prose, John Patrick Shanleys tenderhearted portrait reminds us its never too late to take a chance on love. Presented in collaboration with AIRE (American Irish Repertory Theatre) of Portland, Maine ABOUT DEERTREES THEATRE In 1936 a stunning opera house was built on the site of an old deer run in the forest above the friendly village of Harrison, Maine, Deertrees Theatre. This summer is our 84th season. The theatre was the vision of opera singer Enrica Clay-Dillon. It was designed by Harrison G. Wiseman, a famous theatre architect of the day who was instructed to create the most acoustically and technically perfect theatre possible. Constructed of rose hemlock, in the Adirondack Style, with hand-carved fixtures and near perfect acoustics, the 300 seat theatre was considered as fine as any on Broadway! Now listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, Deertrees is operated as a non-profit organization and presents a diverse schedule of performances and events, both musical and theatrical, every summer.
